What's the difference between lime and sand-and-cement pointing?+
Older, solid-wall properties were built to breathe and need a soft lime mortar so moisture can escape. Modern cavity-wall homes are usually fine with a sand-and-cement mix. We assess your building and recommend the correct one - using the wrong mortar can trap damp and damage the brick.
Will brick cleaning or paint removal damage my walls?+
Not when it’s done correctly. We use the gentlest effective method - often DOFF superheated steam, which is low-pressure and chemical-free - so the surface of the brick is protected. We always test a small area first.
Do you work on listed and conservation-area properties?+
Yes. Lime pointing and DOFF cleaning are both well suited to older and protected buildings. We’re happy to discuss the right specification for your property and any consents you may need.
